Patients’ Organisation
CALM-QE combines the expertise of adult and pediatric pulmonologists, experts in the field of chronic inflammation, artificial intelligence and modeling, and patients as experts in the literal experience of the disease.
The objective is to contribute to better disease control, a better long-term prognosis and ultimately improved quality of life by providing a more accurate picture of the individual patient through better, more tailored therapy, better identification of individual risk factors and appropriate countermeasures.
CALM-QE is currently supported by two organizations:
DZL ALLIANCE – All Age Asthma Cohort
Ms. K. Schlieter, one of our patient representatives for CALM-QE, also supports the ALLIANCE project of the German Center for Lung Research (DZL) as a patient representative – detailed information can be found here:

Alpha1 Deutschland e.V.
The purpose of the association is to promote public health and education. The association provides information about the disease alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency, advises parents of affected children and organizes training courses for group leaders and their deputies, for those affected and their relatives as well as for interested doctors. Alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency is often hidden behind the diseases COPD and asthma. Many symptoms and effects are similar, sometimes even identical.
The objective is to increase society’s understanding of the disease and its symptoms in order to influence research and treatment methods. It also supports the implementation of medically sensible measures to support members with the disease as well as the establishment and implementation of self-help groups. Alpha1 Deutschland e.V. aims to help patients with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency to lead a self-determined life.
