Together with the data from the various work packages and collaborating sites, an overall model is being developed with the support of the research team that can provide more precise factors for the occurrence of an exacerbation (acute worsening of symptoms lasting at least two days in chronic lung diseases such as asthma and COPD).

The development of phenotypes and endotypes also serves to provide patients with more individualized advice and treatment.

Both approaches are intended to identify risk factors and, if possible, eliminate or reduce them in order to positively influence the course of the disease.

In the medium term, this information is to be integrated into routine patient care.
